About Futurewhiz, StudyGo, and Squla
For nearly 15 years, Futurewhiz has been the market leader in EdTech in the Netherlands. Our brands – including Squla and StudyGo – help children and teenagers aged 3 to 18 learn and grow at their own level and pace. Our mission is clear: "Empowering every child to grow." What will you do as our Ruby Developer?
Whether you are utilising the team's existing knowledge, collaborating with the Team Lead and UX/UI Designers, or taking part in stand ups with the team, testing your ideas and ensuring when they go live, you troubleshoot any issues, everyday there is an opportunity to learn something new. Your typical daily tasks will include (but certainly not be limited to):
Participating in planning together with the Team Lead and other colleagues
Building and implementing new features from the ground up
Working with other colleagues in choosing the right (technical) solutions
Taking responsibility for your features from the beginning, to them going live and beyond
Our stack is: Ruby on Rails back-end, react front-end, using MYSQL and Redis.
Job requirements
Who are you?
You are passionate about making the education world a better place for children, and know your way around the development space, bringing experience, and fresh knowledge to the table. You're keen to learn and grow in a collaborative, agile environment. We also consider the following points to be important:
1+ year experience with Ruby on Rails
Are a team player, able to communicate across disciplines
Enjoy taking ownership and responsibility for putting features live
A knowledge of computer science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures)
A good foundation in relational database concepts and practices
The ability to write clean and maintainable code, following standards and guidelines
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
A good understanding of common design patterns
Experience writing automated tests
Visa sponsorship for this role is not applicable. Only candidates with a working permit for EU/Netherlands will be considered for this role.*
