Our brands – including Squla and StudyGo – help children and teenagers aged 3 to 18 learn and grow at their own level and pace. Our mission is clear: "Empowering every child to grow." šŸŽ® What will you do?

The Unity Medior Developer is the technical cornerstone of the Squla Junior team — a Medior Unity engineer with cross-stack awareness who balances future vision with lean, iterative delivery. They co-create the product alongside design and product, ensuring every decision is grounded in both user needs and technical reality. They set the technical direction within Unity, translate product needs into scalable solutions, and anticipate future challenges without over-engineering. Their focus is on building just enough to learn fast, planning and scoping realistically, and keeping every tech decision aligned with the child’s experience and the parent’s trust.

🌟 Your role and impact

  • Deep knowledge of architecture, optimization, addressables, and scalable systems for content-heavy games. Plus is if you are able to show your own app releases.

  • Experience in structuring, managing, and optimizing data for efficient content pipelines.

  • Basic knowledge of backend (Python, AWS) and frontend/web development to guide trade-offs and avoid pitfalls. Has worked with API integrations.

  • Turns product and design ideas into clean, scalable technical solutions.

  • Builds just enough to learn fast; avoids over-engineering while keeping options open for future growth.

  • Breaks down work realistically, manages dependencies, and gives clear, reliable estimates.

  • Identifies safe, practical uses of AI (content pipelines, QA, personalization) without compromising child safety or consistency.

  • Ensures smooth performance, bug resistance, and maintainability across devices. Experience with structured development processes, incl. build and test automation and version control;

  • Pushes for internal tools that let designers and educators create and manage content without dev bottlenecks.

Job requirements

šŸ”„ Who are you?

  • Anticipate future problems and solutions, but keep the focus on today’s priorities.

  • Explain trade-offs clearly to both devs and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Listen across Unity, backend, web, UX, and product, and align needs into coherent solutions.

  • Share expertise with peers, support juniors, and contribute to architectural discussions.

  • Work in short, testable cycles and adapt based on feedback and results.

  • Actively contribute to shaping the product in the triad, not just implementing features.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have some Frontend exposure.

šŸ’°What do we offer?

  • A gross monthly salary of €3800 - €4900 (based on 40 hours, depending on experience)

  • 24 vacation days + 3 assigned days off + 1 skipping school day

  • Collective pension and health insurance

  • A €600 annual learning budget for your professional development

  • Unlimited access to external coaches through Inuka Coaching

  • Unlimited access to Goodhabitz training programs for professional and personal growth

Additionally:

  • Lifetime access to StudyGo and Squla accounts

  • Office next to Bijlmer Arena station (with the possibility of getting a Swapfiets or an OV business card if you live over 7km from the office)

  • A MacBook for work

  • Payroll Giving option to contribute to a good cause

  • Healthy lunches at the office, unlimited good coffee, fresh fruit, and snacks

  • A Culture Crew that organizes fun activities like outings, pub quizzes, ski trips, and laser tag
