What will you do as a Junior Data Scientist?

Currently, we have a team of data scientists working on crunching data in a quest to uncover new facts, patterns, and stories. Joining the team will provide you with a great opportunity to develop by putting your skills to the test and working together for a great mission, together with different teams and products. Whether you are utilising the team's existing knowledge, or showcasing your own talents/interests, everyday there is an opportunity to learn something new. Your typical daily tasks will include (but certainly not be limited to): 

  • Sharpening business questions and translating them into hypotheses that can be answered with data

  • Identifying, extracting, processing, and analysing the appropriate data

  • Using generative AI to explore novel ways to get insights from data

  • Designing, executing and evaluating (online) A/B tests

  • Communicating your findings to your colleagues - both verbally and visually - in simple terms

  • Helping others to identify relevant actions based on your findings

Job requirements

Who are you?

You have a critical but open minded attitude, and your communication is precise and effective. You’re data-driven, enjoy helping to build a platform that teaches thousands of children new things in a playful way every day.

You have:

  • 1-2 years of experience, with exposure to online platforms

  • Experience working with R or Python

  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL)

  • Passion and drive for finding new insights in vast amounts of data

  • Experience with analysing experiments

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • Visa sponsorship for this role is not applicable. Only candidates with a working permit for EU/Netherlands will be considered for this role.

It would be nice if you have:

  • Experience with dashboard tools (e.g., Tableau or QuickSight)

  • Experience working with AI (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)

  • A strong statistical background

Example of projects you would work on:

  • Analyse engagement metrics across different products

  • Setting up and analyzing an A/B test

  • Analyse the adoption and usage of a new feature

  • Deep dive into play behaviour of users prior to their renewal period
